The Rosary-its solemn recitation by all the faithful is an indicator that the Church looks to Mary for every help and aid

Another proof of this belief is the devotion of the Rosary. The Church, by her general and daily practice and by the repeated teaching of the Pontiffs recommends the Rosary to us insistently, that highest power of Marian invocation. When nations trembled and whole peoples seemed to stagger upon quaking ground, when political men were anguished in their dealing with one another. Pope Leo XIII published every year a humble encyclical on the Rosary. He was sure of having found the true cure to the maladies of our age, he who was a great theologian and who had plumbed the depths of Christianity, the great man of State who had seen all the needs and aspirations of our modern times. Why this insistence on prayer to the august Virgin? Why the solemn month dedicated to her throughout Christendom, a practice maintained by all his successors?

Why is the Hail Mary repeated in the most critical situations and during the most pressing dangers? Is this not a sign that the Church has hope in Mary, even in the most difficult and desperate circumstances?
