Little Man with the Rosary

Little man, the Rosary is a treasure from God.

Take this gift from heaven

and let it lift you to heaven.

Pick up the Rosary and lift your soul to the Lord.

Pick up the Rosary and pray to God with Mary,

Join her prayers in heaven to your prayers on earth,

and God's will is done on earth as it is in heaven (Mt. 6:10)

Pick up the Rosary and change your life forever.

Little Man with a choice to make,

do you see the key to the kingdom of God

in your hands, when you hold a Rosary?

Do you see in your hand the power to change the world?

The power to change your world?

Little man standing on the earth, beware of this world!

It wants to take your love from God (1Jn.2:15-17)

The world will tell you there is no life,

no power, and no point in prayer

-Because the world follows the way of the fool (Ps.53:1),

It is blinded by the flesh to the wisdom of the Spirit,

It chooses the ways of the animals over the ways of the angels,

Its reason is passion and its logic is madness,

-the madness that would lose an eternal soul

for a moment of pleasure.

This is a proud worldly wisdom

whose terms are a dictionary of lies (Jn.8:44),

and whose map leads to death (Mt.7:13).

Little man with a humble heart,

Open the book of truth

and embrace the life to which leads to freedom

Discover the truth of the Gospel by living it.

Know for sure its house is founded upon spiritual rock. (Mt.5:7:25/16:18).

Little man with a big heart,

know as truth from God that

If a man chooses the life of sin over the life of prayer,

He has lost his fortune in the spirit to the house of the flesh

- a house destined for destruction (Mt.7:27).

Do not allow yourself to be sold (Mt.27:5) into this parade of injustice.

Realize your potential is infinite,

your chance to choose Divine.

Little man with your Rosary beads,

do not let your opponent who is armed with a reed (Mk.15:19), take your

sword from your hand.

Little man with the Rosary beads no one can match your strength

For the power of the creator of all things is at your command

The power of your opponents is in your hand (Mt.26:53/Jn.19:11)

Little man with your Rosary beads do you know the power is within your

hands to shake the earth? (Mk.11:23,25)

Little man with your little Rosary,

Do you know it is within your power through simple prayer and meditation

to straighten the arch of sin and receive power, honor, and glory

A thousand times above and beyond that of the earth?

(Lk.4:6-8, Jn.18:36)

Do you know that you can rise to an estate in the city of God (Jn.14:2)

and possess it forever without fear of loss? (Mt.6:20, 21/Rev.21:4)

-unlike the estates of this world (Mt.6:19)

which pass on the night of death and judgment (Lk.12:20).

Little man holding the Rosary beads

do you know that

to accept that loss of your life in this world (Mt.10:39)

you inherit the reign of a kingdom

More mighty than the universe (Mt.24:29),

More brilliant that the sun (Rev.21:23),

More powerful than all the armies that ever fought (Rev.19:11-15),

More beautiful than all the women who ever lived (Rev.21:2),

More precious than all the diamonds, pearls (Rev.18:12, 16) and gold that

ever existed?

Little man with your Rosary beads do you know what a treasure you have?

(Mt.13:45)

Little man do you know how big you really are?

Do you know you sit upon a goldmine when you own a soul (Mt.13:44),

And your Rosary is the tool that can dig out your hidden treasure?

Little man with the Rosary,

Do not accept defeat

when you can conquer your enemy (Rev.3:5, 21),

-By the acceptance of suffering in this life (Lk.23:41)

and the will to persevere in prayer,

you are given an exit to paradise (Lk.23:43)

A road to the house of peace (Is.35:8).

Little man with the Rosary in your hands,

You are little in the eyes of the world,

But you are great in the eyes of God (1Sam.16:7)

-In silent prayer you move the world

(Mt.6:6, Jas.5:16-18).

The Rosary-its solemn recitation by all the faithful is an indicator that the Church looks to Mary for every help and aid

Another proof of this belief is the devotion of the Rosary. The Church, by her general and daily practice and by the repeated teaching of the Pontiffs recommends the Rosary to us insistently, that highest power of Marian invocation. When nations trembled and whole peoples seemed to stagger upon quaking ground, when political men were anguished in their dealing with one another. Pope Leo XIII published every year a humble encyclical on the Rosary. He was sure of having found the true cure to the maladies of our age, he who was a great theologian and who had plumbed the depths of Christianity, the great man of State who had seen all the needs and aspirations of our modern times. Why this insistence on prayer to the august Virgin? Why the solemn month dedicated to her throughout Christendom, a practice maintained by all his successors?

Why is the Hail Mary repeated in the most critical situations and during the most pressing dangers? Is this not a sign that the Church has hope in Mary, even in the most difficult and desperate circumstances?

Saints and the Hail Mary

St. Bonaventure assures us that whoever addresses the Virgin with the Hail Mary, will in turn be blessed by Mary with some grace. St. Bernard, who was accustomed to greet Mary whenever he saw her picture, one day heard his greeting answered with the words: "Hail Bernard."

St. Alphonse de Liguori would interrupt any activity at the sound of church bells to say the Hail Mary.

St. Catherine of Siena began at the age of five to recite as many Hail Marys as the number of steps she climbed.

St. Bernard says that heaven smiles and the angels rejoice every time the Hail Mary is said with devotion.

Cesario calls the angelical salutation the voice of triumph, and St. Ephrem terms it the hymn and canticle of angels.

Our Lady of Fatima's promise with regard to the Rosary

The Most Holy Virgin, in these last times in which we live, has given a new efficacy to the recitation of the Rosary to such an extent that there is no problem, no matter how difficult it is, temporal or especially spiritual, in the personal life of each one of us, of our families, of the families of the world or of the religious communities, or even of the life of peoples and nations, that cannot be solved by the Rosary.

There is no problem, I tell you, no matter how difficult it is, that we cannot resolve by the prayer of the Holy Rosary. With the Holy Rosary we will save ourselves. We will console Our Lord and obtain the salvation of many souls.

Little Almanac of the Ave Maria

The angel Gabriel was sent from God to a city of Galilee called Nazareth, to a virgin whom a man named Joseph, of the house of David, had married.

And the virgin's name was Mary.

The angel came in where she was and said to her...

All the children of God present themselves at the foot of your altars, they repeat to you a thousand times blessed. O Queen, O Mother, do not disdain the praises which rise up to you from the valley of tears. Mgr Dupanloup

O Mary, you are the wife and mother of the King of kings, you are with God the mediatrix of the men whom you cherish; lower therefore upon our supplicating hearts the eyes of your mercy. St. Bonaventure

All generations will call me blessed, because God has looked upon his humble servant. Virgin most pure, you are blessed among women, for we have received from you the fruit of life. Office

Happier than all mothers, O Mary, you have seen God in your son, you have caressed the one who gave you life; stretch out to him the arms that have so often carried him; pray to him to save us. Abbot Perdreau

All beautiful and all pure, Mary has ravished the heart of the King of kings. Mother of God, she is also the mother of men, and we have found in her maternal heart a sweet and safe shelter. Saint Bernard

Mary has all the power to help us, she has the will to do so. O my beloved children, this is the ladder of sinners, the refuge of all afflicted hearts.

St. Bernard

O Mary, our days are sad and evil; you know our dangers, you know our sorrows. Speak therefore for us to Jesus, O Mary, you who possess his heart; pray, for your Son always listens to you. St. Bernard

Holy Virgin, when our tongue can no longer invoke you, when our eyes close to the light, deign to present our soul to the most sweet Jesus, your Son and Our Lord.

Saint Elizabeth had just praised Mary, saying: "Blessed are you among women." Mary responded by praising and blessing God, who in His mercy had chosen her to give to the world the One who was to be the salvation of the world.

Let us also exalt the Lord for so many graces with which he has bestowed upon us: Magnificat anima mea Dominum...

-This came from a little French book published in 1938 titled "Petit Almanach de l'Ave Maria".

Padre Pio's fascination with the Ave Maria

Padre Pio felt a fascination for the Ave Maria! One witness says: "We always saw him with his rosary in his hand, in the friary, in the halls, on the stairs, in the sacristy, in Church, even in the brief interval when going to and coming from the confessional. A follower asked him, 'Teach me a prayer that is most pleasing to the Blessed Mother.' And Padre Pio without hesitation answered him, 'And is there one more beautiful or more pleasing than the one she taught us herself? More beautiful than the Rosary? Always say the Rosary.' He would say, 'The Rosary is a weapon in our hands.' One evening before going to bed, he realized he had forgotten his rosary. He asked one of his brothers, 'Go get my weapon.' The brother did not understand, so he added, 'The rosary, that is my weapon.'" Another witness adds, "Near the end of his life he didn't talk much. We told him our thoughts, we asked him for help but all he did was to show us the rosary, always the rosary."

The Power of the Rosary from the Perspective of a Former Messianic Jew

The Power of the Rosary from the Perspective of a Former Messianic Jew

I'm going to make an attempt at trying to express why I think the rosary is so important, and why it is the most powerful spiritual tool in all of existence. My hope is that by expressing this, more Catholics will be motivated to pray it each day.

#The Psalms are Powerful but the Hail Mary is Greater

In Judaism, the psalms are pretty much a cure-all for all spiritual, physical, emotional, and material problems. Whenever anyone has any problem, it is recommended that they sit down and recite all 150 psalms, even if it takes all day. It erases sins, it heals the sick, it turns back harsh decrees, it allows a person to repent and get their sins forgiven even if they committed a sin that causes excision (to be cut off from God and destined to Hell...think "mortal sin"), it provides safety and protection from physical and spiritual enemies, it grants provision for one's needs, it brings about desperately needed miracles, it makes a person into a tzaddik ("righteous one") and promises them a place in the World To Come. It is said that one who recites the entire book of psalms each day, it is as if he fulfilled the whole Torah(Divine Law of God).

> If you only knew the power of verses of Psalms and their effect in the highest Heavens, you would recite them constantly. Know that the chapters of Psalms shatter all barriers, they ascend higher and still higher with no interference; they prostrate themselves in supplication before the Master of all worlds, and they effect and accomplish with kindness and compassion.

> – Rabbi Menachem Mendel of Lubavitch (Tzemach Tzeddek, 1789-1866)

The writings on the power of the psalms are virtually endless.

- The Emeq HaMelekh writes (pg. 15) that the book of Psalms declines many stumbling blocks and some damages from him and his household members, and his family as well. It makes great blessings goodness and merits to him.

- The Midrash in Pinhas writes that whatever a person needs, he should recite Psalms for it.

- "Whoever recites Psalms every day, it is as if we fulfilled the entire Torah (Rabenu Efraim, Parashat WeZot HaBerakha)."

- One who wants to have a connection with Hashem (God), should recite Tehilim (Shala, Nazir 257).

- The Noam Elimelekh writes that Psalms have the possibility to make drastic changes and there is no adversary or obstacle stopping them.

- Rabbi Haim Palagi also writes that this worlds stands upon Tehilim(Psalms), and one redeems themselves from any damages, and redemption will come through the recitation of Psalms (Haqdama, Kol HaKatub LeHaim).

- One who recites Psalms daily merits to be under the Kise HaKabod (Chair of Honor). We have nothing greater than the Psalms because they contain everything (Shala).

- The Baal Shem Tov stated that if Psalm 119 is said every day, a person will be able to enter into a meditative state when talking to another and receive deep perceptions about that person. ("Rabbi Nachman's Tikun Haklali" by Daniel A. Elias.) This is because the Psalms draw down the Holy Spirit, as King David wrote by inspiration of the Holy Spirit.

- Peleh Yoetz says, “One who routinely says Tehillim is protected from all harm befalling his house, his family etc. One who wishes to attach himself to Hashem and His praises should be connected to sefer Tehillim. We have a tradition that one who has a problem, or pain, or is going on the road, should read the entire Tehillim all day without stopping, with kavana and humbleness. He will see wonders. This tradition has been tried and tested (and works)."

- Recitation of the Psalms protects you in this world and in the next.

- One who says Tehilim for forty days is saved from harmful events.

- For more promises associated with the Psalms in Judaism, see [All About Tehillim](https://thehalacha.com/wp-content/uploads/Vol11Issue4.pdf?utm_content=sreviewch@gmail.com&utm_source=VerticalResponse&utm_medium=Email&utm_term=Click%20here%20to%20download%20%26quot;All%20About%20Tehillim%26quot;.&utm_campaign=All%20About%20Tehillim).

At a later point in history, Rebbe Nachman of Breslov was given revelation from Heaven about the 10 Psalms, called Tikkun HaKlali (The General Remedy. There are 10 types of songs in the Psalms and the Tikkun HaKlali contains all of them. When said in order, (16,32,41,42,59,77,90,105,137, and 150) it causes such miraculous effect in all of heaven and in one's soul that it is like praying all 150 of the psalms. Many people who recite the 10 psalms regularly attest to how it has healed their depression, stopped sins of lust and nocturnal emissions, and helped them to become close to God in a way that makes them almost of saintly character

**YET**

The Hail Mary (The Angelic Salutation) is more powerful than all of this and merits more or equal blessings.

The original 150 Hail Mary's correspond the the 150 Psalms.

St. Louis Marie De Montfort writes in *Secrets of the Rosary*:

- the Angelic Psalter bears a nobler fruit, that of the Word incarnate, whereas David's Psalter only prophesies his coming

- Just as the real thing is more important than its prefiguration and the body surpasses the shadow, so the Psalter of our Lady is greater than David's Psalter, which did no more than prefigure it;

- The Angelic Salutation, or Hail Mary, is so heavenly and so beyond us in its depth of meaning, that Blessed Alan de la Roche held that no mere creature could ever understand it, and that only our Lord Jesus Christ, born of the Virgin Mary, can really explain it.

- By the Angelic Salutation God became man, a virgin became the Mother of God, the souls of the just were delivered from Limbo, the empty thrones in heaven have been filled, sin has been pardoned, grace been given to us, the sick been made well, the dead brought back to life, exiles brought home, the Blessed Trinity has been appeased, and men obtained eternal life.

Please let this sink in: One properly said Hail Mary is more powerful than the Psalms and has great power in heaven.

> Whatever you do, do not be like a certain pious but self-willed lady in Rome, so often referred to by speakers on the Rosary. She was so devout and fervent that she put to shame by her holy life even the strictest religious in the Church.

> Having decided to ask St. Dominic's advice about her spiritual life, she made her confession to him. For penance he gave her one Rosary to say and advised her to say it every day. She excused herself, saying that she had her regular exercises, that she made the Stations of Rome every day, that she wore sackcloth as well as a hair-shirt, that she gave herself the discipline several times a week, that she often fasted and did other penances. Saint Dominic urged her over and over again to take his advice and say the Rosary, but she would not hear of it. She left the confessional, horrified at the methods of this new spiritual director who had tried so hard to persuade her to take up a devotion for which she had no taste.

> Later on, when she was at prayer she fell into ecstasy and had a vision of her soul appearing before the Supreme Judge. Saint Michael put all her penances and other prayers on one side of the scales and all her sins and imperfections on the other. The tray of her good works were greatly outweighed by that of her sins and imperfections.

> Filled with alarm, she cried for mercy, imploring the help of the Blessed Virgin, her gracious advocate, who took the one and only Rosary she had said for her penance and dropped it on the tray of her good works. This one Rosary was so heavy that it weighed more than all her sins as well as all her good works. Our Lady then reproved her for having refused to follow the counsel of her servant Dominic and for not saying the Rosary every day.

> As soon as she came to herself she rushed and threw herself at the feet of Saint Dominic and told him all that had happened, begged his forgiveness for her unbelief, and promised to say the Rosary faithfully every day. By this means she rose to Christian perfection and finally to the glory of everlasting life. (Secrets of the Rosary by St. Louis Marie De Montfort)

St. Louis Marie De Montfort also writes, "There is an old hymn and a new hymn: the first is that which the Jews sang out of gratitude to God for creating them and maintaining them in existence, for delivering them from captivity and leading them safely through the Red Sea, for giving them manna to eat, and for all his other blessings."

He calls the Angelic Salutation the "new song/hymn" that David fortold in his Psalms, saying, "I will sing to the Lord a new song."

#The Shema is Great but the Apostles' Creed is Greater

The Shema is the declaration of Jewish faith that every Jew is all too familiar with. It comes directly from Scripture and is commanded by God to be recited every morning and night upon waking up and falling asleep.

In its entirety, the Shema consists of three paragraphs: Deuteronomy 6:4–9, Deuteronomy 11:13–21 and Numbers 15:37–41.

Of pious Jews, it is often recited upon death, even if it is only the first line: "Shema Yisrael, Adonai Eloheinu. Adonai Echad." (Translation: "Hear O Israel, the LORD is our God. The Lord is One.")

The Shema recounts the story of who God is, how He brought the Jews out of Egypt, and how they are to live in response to Him.

It goes:

> Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise up. You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.

> And if you will indeed obey my commandments that I command you today, to love the Lord your God, and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul, he will give the rain for your land in its season, the early rain and the later rain, that you may gather in your grain and your wine and your oil. And he will give grass in your fields for your livestock, and you shall eat and be full. Take care lest your heart be deceived, and you turn aside and serve other gods and worship them; then the anger of the Lord will be kindled against you, and he will shut up the heavens, so that there will be no rain, and the land will yield no fruit, and you will perish quickly off the good land that the Lord is giving you.

> You shall therefore lay up these words of mine in your heart and in your soul, and you shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. You shall teach them to your children, talking of them when you are sitting in your house, and when you are walking by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise. You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates, that your days and the days of your children may be multiplied in the land that the Lord swore to your fathers to give them, as long as the heavens are above the earth.

> The Lord said to Moses, “Speak to the people of Israel, and tell them to make tassels on the corners of their garments throughout their generations, and to put a cord of blue on the tassel of each corner. And it shall be a tassel for you to look at and remember all the commandments of the Lord, to do them, not to follow after your own heart and your own eyes, which you are inclined to whore after. So you shall remember and do all my commandments, and be holy to your God. I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt to be your God: I am the Lord your God.”

Kriat Al Shmita (Bedtime Shema) is probably considered one of the most important recitations during the day. Rav Yitzchak say, “If one recites the Shema before bed, demons are kept away from him” (Berakhot 5a). The general consensus of the rabbis from the time of the Talmud to the time of the halakhic (legal) codes is that reciting this Shema offers not only praise of God, but a request of God’s protection from dangers and demons that may emerge at night.

Our Declaration (The Apostles' Creed) is greater. It is shorter, and like the Angelic Salutation compared to the Psalms, it points to something greater. It is the substance over the shadow. The Jewish people pray and wait for the Messiah all day long, but we know who He is and His Spirit lives in us. We proclaim all the works of Christ when we say the Apostles' Creed and we also are protected by it, just Kriat Al Shmita protects the Jewish people who recite it before bed.

St. Louis Marie De Montfort writes in "Secrets of the Rosary", "I shall not take time here to explain the Creed word for word, but I cannot resist saying that the first words, "I believe in God," are wonderfully effective as a means of sanctifying our souls and putting the devils to rout, because these words contain the acts of the three theological virtues of faith, hope and charity. It was by saying these words that many saints overcame temptations, especially those against faith, hope or charity, either during their lifetime or at the hour of their death."

#Shemoneh Esrei is Great but The Our Father is Greater

The Shemoneh Esrei (18 Benedictions) were written by The Men of The Great Assembly. Some notable members were Haggai, Zechariah, Ezra, Daniel, Hananiah(Shadrach), Azariah(Abednego), Mishael(Meshech), Nehemiah, Mordechai(cousin of Queen Esther) and Zerubabel. These prayers were written by very holy men of God, many of who wrote the books of our Bible and were notable prophets, but none of them were God Himself. They were not the Son of God, that's why I say the Lord's Prayer (The Our Father) is greater than the 18 Benedictions.

This prayer is referenced maybe twice in the New Testament. It's also called the "Standing Prayer" and would have been what the disciples were praying when they were standing at the Temple. It is prayed shacharit(morning), mincha(afternoon), and maariv(evening); in accord with when the perpetual sacrifice was burning on the altar in the Temple. It is still prayed to this day.

The "Our Father" nicely encapsulates all the prayers of the 18 Benedictions in a few short words. This is a summary of the blessings and petitions that are prayed in the Shemoneh Esrei:

1. Bless God for the patriarchs and that He will someday bring the promised Messiah.

2. Bless God for His great power and that He will someday raise the dead.

3. Bless God for He is all holy and everything about Him is holy.

4. Bless God for giving knowledge, understanding, and revelation.

5. Bless God who grants us perfect repentance.

6. Petition for forgiveness, and blessing that God forgives.

7. Petition to speedily redeem Israel.

8. Petition to heal from sickness and save from death.

9. Prayer for rain and prosperity. Bless God for blessing the years with prosperity.

10. Petition to bring back exiles and grant freedom to Israel. Bless God beforehand knowing He will do this.

11. Petition for restoration of judges and bringing about a time of peace. Blessing God who loves righteousness and justice.

12. Petition to bless all the righteous and pious, including scholars and converts. Bless God who is assurance of the righteous.

13. Petition for God to return to Jerusalem and rebuild it, also to establish the throne of David. Bless God who rebuilds Jerusalem.

14. Prayer for the coming of the "seed of David". Bless God who brings salvation.

15. Petition for mercy that all prayers will be heard and granted. Bless God who hears prayer.

16. Another petition for mercy that all prayers will be heard and granted, and that He will return to Zion. Bless God who returns to Zion.

17. Thanking God that His miracles, wonders, and favor are always with us.

18. Petition for all goodness, grace, kindness, blessings, etc. on the Jewish people (including converts) and that He will be with them at all hours and times. Bless the Lord who gives peace.

The Our Father is succinct and short. It praises God as Holy. It asks for His Kingdom to Come (the return of our Lord, the Messiah, and the restoration of Israel which will bring about times of peace for the whole world). It asks for His daily provisions and that our needs will be met. It asks forgiveness of sins, and to be protected from "evil/the Evil One" which means calamity, illness, and all misfortune. It asks for our protection from temptation, which the Shemoneh Esrei lacks (note: this was Jesus' command to His disciples "pray that we may not enter into temptation, for the Spirit is indeed willing, but the flesh is weak."). The blessings and petitions of the Shemoneh Esrei are summed up in the Our Father. On each mystery, we meditate and then pray the Our Father, and we are asking for all the blessings of the Shemoneh Esrei in a mere few words, and these words are extremely powerful because it is the prayer that Christ, the Son of God, God Himself in the flesh, gave us.

#Lastly, The Virtue of Meditation

St. Louis Marie De Montfort writes:

> St. Augustine assures us that there is no spiritual exercise more fruitful or more useful than the frequent reflection on the sufferings of our Lord. Blessed Albert the Great, who had St. Thomas Aquinas as his student, learned in a revelation that by simply thinking of or meditating on the passion of Jesus Christ, a Christian gains more merit than if he had fasted on bread and water every Friday for a year, or had beaten himself with the discipline once a week till blood flowed, or had recited the whole Book of Psalms every day. If this is so, then how great must be the merit we can gain from the Rosary, which commemorates the whole life and passion of our Lord?

> Few saints have reached the same heights of prayer as Saint Mary Magdalene, who was lifted up to heaven by angels each day, and who had the privilege of learning at the feet of Jesus and his holy Mother. Yet one day, when she asked God to show her a sure way of advancing in his love and arriving at the heights of perfection, he sent the archangel St. Michael to tell her, on his behalf, that there was no other way for her to reach perfection than to meditate on our Lord's passion. So he placed a cross in the front of her cave and told her to pray before it, contemplating the sorrowful mysteries which she had seen take place with her own eyes.

#15 Promises For Those Who Devoutly Say The Rosary Everyday

1. You will receive signal graces.

2. You will receive the greatest graces.

3. You will receive a powerful armor against Hell, the destruction of your vices, decrease your sins, and defeat heresies.

4. You will flourish in good works: obtain the abundant mercy of God, withdraw from the love of the world and vanities, and desire Eternal Things.

5. Your soul will not perish.

6. You will never be conquered by misfortune, never be chastised by God, and will not perish by an unprovided death. You will become worthy of Eternal Life if you are just.

7. You will not die without the sacraments of the Church.

8. You will receive the Light of God during life and death and plentitude of God's graces and participation in the merits of the saints in Paradise at death.

9. You will be delivered from purgatory.

10. You will receive a high degree of glory in heaven.

11. You will obtain all that you ask for.

12. You will be aided in your necessities.

13. You will obtain from Jesus intercessors of the entire Celestial Court.

14. You will become a child of Mary and brother/sister of Jesus.

15. Reciting your rosary everyday will be a great sign of predestination for you.

For your sake, for Mary's sake, for the sake of the world, God, and Christ; please pray your rosary everyday. It is the one thing Mother Mary stressed in all her apparitions. We are capable of bringing peace to the world, the salvation of souls, and the turning back of judgment(the end of the world) if we would only pray our rosary everyday. We have many reasons to take up this devotion everyday, even if we originally only do it out of self-interest (needing money, healing, a spouse to come back, to get a job/house/car/etc.). Even if you only pray 1 Hail Mary or 1 decade to start off, it will be efficacious and Mary will help you to build up to praying the whole rosary everyday. I started out only praying the opening prayers, then one bead of a mystery, now I am praying 4 sets of mysteries a day (Joyful, Luminous, Sorrowful, and Glorious).

*Mother Mary, I doubt anyone took the time to read all of this, but for those who have, I pray you would shower them with the graces that you are willing to give that no one asks your intercession for. Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with you. Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb, Yeshua. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now, and at the hour of our death. Amen.*

Triumph of the Ave Maria by St. Louis de Montfort

Let all sing out and proclaim

with lofty, noble voices,

The greatness of the Ave

In praise of Holy Mary

By the Ave Maria, sin will be destroyed.

By the Ave Maria, Great Jesus will reign.

O divine prayer,

If you were truly known,

Everyone on this earth

Would pray you night and day

By the Ave Maria, sin will be destroyed.

By the Ave Maria, Great Jesus will reign.

Never had the heretics,

never have the doomed

Truly experienced

Its angelic sweetness

By the Ave Maria, sin will be destroyed.

By the Ave Maria, Great Jesus will reign.

O soul by God chosen,

It is yours to praise,

Yours it is to relish

The Ave, God's hidden manna,

By the Ave Maria, sin will be destroyed.

By the Ave Maria, Great Jesus will reign.

Angels in glory,

Man in the world,

Devils in hell,

Souls in purgatory,

By the Ave Maria, sin will be destroyed.

By the Ave Maria, Great Jesus will reign.

God redeemed the world

By the Hail Mary

By it, He will renew

The earth and the seas.

By the Ave Maria, sin will be destroyed.

By the Ave Maria, Great Jesus will reign.

The Ave ravished Mary

And her faithful consent,

And now she is still ravished

When she hears the Ave prayed.

By the Ave Maria, sin will be destroyed.

By the Ave Maria, Great Jesus will reign.

By its grace, it makes fertile

Everything here below.

Yet it is not valued

Through its grace has no equal.

By the Ave Maria, sin will be destroyed.

By the Ave Maria, Great Jesus will reign.

The earth was once sterile,

But when the angel said Ave

It brought forth its Fruit,

The earth became fertile

By the Ave Maria, sin will be destroyed.

By the Ave Maria, Great Jesus will reign.

By the Ave, now listen well,

Sinners are converted,

Devils are defeated,

And hell is running scared.

By the Ave Maria, sin will be destroyed.

By the Ave Maria, Great Jesus will reign.

The Ave profoundly enthralls,

Making everyone surrender;

The greatest enemies of God

It strips and disarms.

By the Ave Maria, sin will be destroyed.

By the Ave Maria, Great Jesus will reign.

God himself in his wrath,

Cannot resist its power

When He hears the Ave,

From judge, he becomes father.

By the Ave Maria, sin will be destroyed.

By the Ave Maria, Great Jesus will reign.

What a powerful weapon

In fighting temptation,

And in all afflictions,

A delightful balm.

By the Ave Maria, sin will be destroyed.

By the Ave Maria, Great Jesus will reign.

Whoever prays the Ave

With solid devotion

Crushes the devil,

Putting all hell to flight.

By the Ave Maria, sin will be destroyed.

By the Ave Maria, Great Jesus will reign.

It makes angels rejoice,

Also Mother and Son;

And all paradise

Cries out its praises.

By the Ave Maria, sin will be destroyed.

By the Ave Maria, Great Jesus will reign.

It obtains obtains forgiveness

And grace for the sinner

And for the just, fervor and true perseverance.

By the Ave Maria, sin will be destroyed.

By the Ave Maria, Great Jesus will reign.

The Ave enlightens, enflames,

It protects and it nourishes, it comforts, it heals,

It grants the soul grace.

By the Ave Maria, sin will be destroyed.

By the Ave Maria, Great Jesus will reign.

The Ave does everything.

If one prays it often

And very devoutly,

It turns ice into fire.

By the Ave Maria, son will be destroyed.

By the Ave Maria, Great Jesus will reign.

The Ave quickly wins over

A heart most rebellious,

The obstinate heretics

Soon become believers.

By the Ave Maria, sin will be destroyed.

By the Ave Maria, Great Jesus will reign.

When you pray it well

You're rich and so wise,

Although, as you say,

You can't even read!

By the Ave Maria, sin will be destroyed.

By the Ave Maria, Great Jesus will reign.

As for me, no matter what's said,

In order to please God,

I pray it everywhere,

At home and in church.

By the Ave Maria, sin will be destroyed.

By the Ave Maria, Great Jesus will reign.

When I arise or retire,

Go out or come home,

Outdoors, in the house,

It is always in my mouth.

By the Ave Maria, sin will be destroyed.

By the Ave Maria, Great Jesus will reign.

I am invincible

Having prayed my Ave

I am full of spirit,

No fear of the devil.

By the Ave Maria, sin will be destroyed.

By the Ave Maria, Great Jesus will reign.

The devil and the world

Have often attacked me

To take my Ave away;

When they rant, more Aves I pray.

By the Ave Maria, sin will be destroyed.

By the Ave Maria, Great Jesus will reign.

O Salutary advice!

O marvelous secret!

To become perfect,

Say a rosary a day.

By the Ave Maria, sin will be destroyed.

By the Ave Maria, Great Jesus will reign.

Whoever does this faithfully

Will advance quickly,

Will live perfectly,

Will die peacefully,

And will surely obtain Eternal life.

By the Ave Maria, sin will be destroyed.

By the Ave Maria, Great Jesus will reign.

St. Bridget Of Sweden on the mercy of the Mother Of God

I am the Mother Of Mercy, the joy of the just, and the gate of God for sinners. In the fire of Purgatory there is no suffering that through my intercession would not be more easily bearable than otherwise. No one is so damned that, as long as he lives, he will lack my mercy. No one is so far from God, if he is not completely accursed, that he may not come back from God and obtain mercy when he appeals to me.
- as given to St. Bridget from the Virgin Mary.

Our Lady, Protectress of the Marines

With filial gratitude in our hearts to Mary Immaculate, Patroness of the United States, and not unmindful that as it was on the Eve of the Feast of her Immaculate Conception that our nation was plunged into war (1941), so it was on the Feast of her Assumption into Heaven (Pacific Time) that she transmitted to us her Divine Son's gift of peace (1945), we hereby request that the Virgin Mother of Our Holy Redeemer be enshrined in your hearts, as she is in ours, under the title of Our Lady Protectress of the Marines. Indeed, the Virgin Mother of Christ is so loved by our men that entire regiments were solemnly dedicated to her; and like the Christian knights of old, rugged, hardened warriors, with her medallions, rosary, or scapular around their necks, stormed into battle crying her name. Firm is our belief that Our Lady personally conducted to the throne of her Divine Son our many comrades who, signed with the Sign of the Cross and faithful in devotion to her, made the supreme sacrifice. If, indeed, chaplains have been amazed to find so ardent a love for Our Lady among the Marines, how much more gratifying should this fact be to you. Our first act of thanksgiving, therefore, is to Almighty God that He, in His infinite goodness and mercy, saw fit to honor us, the Marines, by sending His own Mother to lead us safely, physically and spiritually, through the valley of shadows.

-Sgt. Louis J. Maloof, USMC: from a statement to American Catholics signed by enlisted men of the Sixth Marine Division, Veterans of Okinawa, and the Third Marine Division, Veterans of Iwo Jima, World War II, and presented to Abp. Spellman at Guam, 20 August 1945; given influx in Our Sunday Visitor, 9 Sept. 1945.

The Athanasian Creed

Whoever wishes to be saved must before all else adhere to the Catholic Faith.
He must preserve this faith whole and untarnished; otherwise he shall most certainly perish forever.
Now this is the Catholic faith: that we worship one God in Trinity, and Trinity in unity;
Neither confusing the Persons nor distinguishing the nature.
The Person of the Father is distinct; the Person of the Son is distinct; the Person of the Holy Ghost is distinct.
Yet the Father and the Son and the Holy Ghost possess one Godhead, equal glory, and co-eternal majesty.
As the Father is, so is the Son, so also is the Holy Ghost.
The Father is uncreated, the Son is uncreated, the Holy Ghost is uncreated.
The Father is infinite, the Son is infinite, the Holy Ghost is infinite.
The Father is eternal, the Son is eternal, the Holy Ghost is eternal.
Nevertheless, they are not three eternals, but one Eternal;
Even as they are not three uncreateds, or three infinites, but one Uncreated, and one Infinite.
So likewise the Father is almighty, the Son is almighty, the Holy Ghost is almighty.
And yet they are not three almighties, but one Almighty.
So also the Father is God, the Son is God, the Holy Ghost is God.
And yet they are not three Gods, but only one God.
So too the Father is Lord, the Son is Lord, the Holy Ghost is Lord.
And still there are not three Lords, but only one Lord.
For just as we are compelled by Christian truth to profess that each Person is individually God and Lord, so also are we forbidden by the Catholic religion to hold that there are three Gods or Lords.
The Father was made by no one, being neither created nor begotten.
The Son is from the Father alone, though not created or made, but begotten.
The Holy Ghost is from the Father and the Son, though neither made nor created nor begotten, but proceeding.
Consequently there is one Father, not three Fathers; there is one Son, not three Sons; there is one Holy Ghost, not three Holy Ghosts.
Furthermore, in this Trinity there is no before or after, no greater or less: for all three Persons are co-eternal and co-equal.
In every respect, therefore, as has already been stated, unity must be worshipped in Trinity, and Trinity in unity.
This is what everyone who wishes to be saved must hold regarding the Blessed Trinity.
But, for his eternal salvation, he must also believe according to the true faith in the Incarnation of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Now the true faith requires us to believe and acknowledge that our Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God, is both God and Man.
He is God, begotten of the substance of the Father before the world began; He is Man, born in the world of the substance of His Mother.
Perfect God, perfect Man, a substance composed of a rational soul and a human body.
Equal to the Father in divinity, less than the Father with respect to His humanity.
And, although He is God and Man, still he is only one Christ, not two.
One, not by any turning of the divinity into flesh, but by the taking up of humanity into God,
One only, not by any confusion of substance, but by the unity of His person.
For, just as the rational soul and the body form one man, so God and Man form one Christ.
He suffered for our salvation, descended into hell, rose from the dead on the third day.
Ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of God the Father all-powerful, whence He shall come to judge the living and the dead.
At His coming, all men must rise with their bodies and must give an account of their own deeds.
And those who have done good shall go into eternal life, while those who have done evil shall go into eternal fire.
This is the Catholic faith, and anyone who does not believe it fully and firmly cannot be saved.

The Blessed Virgin Mary is the Second Eve

1. St. Justin:
"We know that He, before all creatures, proceeded from the Father by His power and will, ... and by means of the Virgin became man, that by what way the disobedience arising from the serpent had its beginning, by that way also it might have an undoing. For Eve, being a virgin and undefiled, conceiving the word that was from the serpent, brought forth disobedience and death; but the Virgin Mary, taking faith and joy, when the Angel told her the good tidings, that the Spirit of the Lord should come upon her and the power of the Highest overshadow her, and therefore the Holy One that was born of her was Son of God, answered, 'Be it to me according to Thy word.'" - Tryph. 100.

2. Tertullian:
"God recovered His image and likeness, which the devil had seized, by a rival operation. For into Eve, as yet a virgin, had crept the word which was the framer of death. Equally into a virgin was to be introduced the Word of God which was the builder-up of life; that, what by that sex had gone into perdition, by the same sex might be brought back to salvation. Eve had believed the serpent; Mary believed Gabriel; the fault which the one committed by believing, the other by believing has blotted out." - De Carn. Christ. 17.

3. St. Irenaeus:
"With a fitness, Mary the Virgin is found obedient, saying, 'Behold thy handmaid, O Lord; be it to me according to Thy word.' But Eve was disobedient; for she obeyed not, while she was yet a virgin. As she, having indeed Adam for a husband, but as yet being a virgin ... becoming disobedient, became the cause of death both to herself and to the whole human race, so also Mary, having the predestined man, and being yet a Virgin, being obedient, became both to herself and to the whole human race the cause of salvation. And on account of this the Lord said, that the first should be last and the last first. And the Prophet signifies the same, saying, 'Instead of fathers you have children.' For, whereas the Lord, when born, was the first-begotten of the dead, and received into His bosom the primitive fathers, He regenerated them into the life of God, He Himself becoming the beginning of the living, since Adam became the beginning of the dying. Therefore also Luke, commencing the line of generations from the Lord, referred it back to Adam, signifying that He regenerated the old fathers, not they Him, into the Gospel of life. And so the knot of Eve's disobedience received its unloosing through the obedience of Mary; for what Eve, a virgin bound by incredulity, that Mary, a virgin, unloosed by faith." - Adv. Her. iii. 22. 34.

"As Eve by the speech of an Angel was seduced, so as to flee God, transgressing His word, so also Mary received the good tidings by means of the Angel's speech, as as to bear God within her, being obedient to His word. And, though the one had disobeyed God yet the other was drawn to obey God; that of the virgin Eve the Virgin Mary might become the advocate. And, as by a virgin the human race had been bound to death, by a virgin it is saved, the balance being preserved, a virgin's disobedience by a virgin's obedience." - Ibid. v. 19.

The Prayer Rule of the Theotokos of Saint Seraphim of Sarov

History of the Prayer Rules of the Theotokos:

Very little is, indeed, known about the history of the Prayer Rule of the Theotokos. There is a tradition that the Egyptian monks of the Thebaid prayed 150 Angelic Salutations grouped into 15 groups of ten, after the pattern of the Psalms. Beyond this, what we do know has come down to us from a certain Father Zosima. He was a spiritual son of the great 19th Century Russian Orthodox said, Seraphim of Sarov. Here is the message left to us from the holy priest, Father Zosima:

I forgot to give you a piece of advice vital for salvation. Say the Rejoice, O Virgin Theotokos one hundred and fifty times, and this prayer will lead you on the way to salvation. This rule was given by the Mother of God herself in about the eighth century, and at one time all Christians fulfilled it. We Orthodox have forgotten about it, and Saint Seraphim has reminded me of this Rule. In my hands I have a hand-written book from the cell of Saint Seraphim, containing a description of the many miracles which took place through praying to the Mother of God and especially through saying one hundred and fifty times the Rejoice, O Virgin Theotokos. If, being unaccustomed to it, it is difficult to master one hundred and fifty repetitions daily, say it fifty times at first. After every ten repetitions say the "Our Father" once and "Open unto us the door of your loving-kindness." Whomever he spoke to about this miracle-working Rules remained grateful to him.

The Prayer Rules as prayed by Saint Seraphim has come down to us by means of his notebook. The fifteen mysteries and the prayers introducing each mystery are those of our holy father, Saint Seraphim himself. The prayers which follow each decade were composed by an Orthodox nun who was a spiritual disciple of Saint Seraphim.

          - As written in the book The Prayer Rule of the Theotokos of Saint Seraphim of Sarov published  by Chi Rho Publishing

(From the blogger: This is proof of ancient devotion to the Mother of God, especially through the Angelic Salutation, from the Orthodox East and demonstrates that devotion to the Mother of God is universal in both the Eastern and Western Church. Ave Maria!)

On the Power of the Angelical Salutation (Ave Maria)

Amen.
That Amen was uttered to the Glory of God.
Amen...
May all that I say in reciting my Ave, may everything it signifies,
be believed, honored and glorified!
May all that it asks for, be obtained for time and eternity;
for the now of this life passing away,
for today,
for this very moment that flits by!
May that Ave realize its triumph over us, over me, for the glory of Jesus Christ,
for the honor of Holy Mary,
Mother of God and Mother of men,
at the hour of our death,
at the hour of my death, mine, a sinner, a sinner!
Amen!
How grateful I am to you, Mary, for having allowed me to meditate on the grandeur of that Ave, that incomparable prayer, companion of the Our Father,
to write some few words about it.
Only too well I know that my thoughts and my written words
scarcely do justice to the reality of your being so sublime.
They are merely crumbs collected here and there from the banquet-table at which your great servitors, your saints, your doctors and learned theologians regale themselves.

What does it matter? This meditation on the Hail Mary foreshadows, though from afar, that reality of you.
It gives me, as it were, a foretaste in this vale of tears of that towards the everlasting vision of God, the meeting with Jesus, your Son, the sight of your beauty, of you, the all beautiful.
Amen. So be it!

The Hail Mary . . . that beautiful prayer!
What an exquisite antiphon!
I am not surprised that the sacred liturgy is filled with it;
that your holy Mass De Beata abounds in it,
that it runs throughout my breviary . . .
It pleased Jesus so!
You, too, it pleases, O Mother. May it always be so!
Amen. So be it!

The Hail Mary. A prayer which God spoke to a Virgin Mother,
which He delivered not by man's lips, but by those of an archangel,
one of the seven who stand before God,
a prayer, which the Most Blessed Trinity composed and gave to Gabriel to bring to an Immaculate
Conception!
After the Our Father, spoken by Jesus, eternal Wisdom,
can we truly compare it to any other prayer for holiness, depth, sublimity, efficacy?

Each time we recite it, we renew in the Virgin'a heart that boundless joy which flooded her soul at the moment when the Son God, Mary's Son, became flesh within her?

The Hail Mary. Surely we must realize now that that salutation is the heavenly antidote of the soul against the mortal bite of the serpent, of that serpent found in so many a statue and picture of Mary, whose head she crushes under her virginal heel!

What a veritable bludgeon it is, for smiting unceasingly that head which contrived and still unflaggingly contrives every plot attempted against the glory of God and of His Christ, against the honor of the Virgin Mother, against her Immaculate Heart, against the conservation and integrity of the Church, against the perfection of her saints, against the welfare of peoples, of society, of families, of individuals!

The Hail Mary. It is the nail driven by the woman clothed with the sun into the temple of Sisara, the enemy of God's people;
the millstone crashing on the abominable Abimelech;
Judith's sword severing the head of the impious Holofernes.

The Hail Mary remains the sword ever brandished by the Mother of God and ever crushing schisms, heresies, every enemy of the Christian name.

With the Hail Mary she triumphs and always will triumph over Satan, the eternal murderer.
Amen. So be it!
Ave Maria . . . Hail Mary!

Take, then, Christian soul, that sword with which you, too, may crush the hordes of hell;
with which you may overcome all temptations, in yourself and in all those you love;
with which you may accomplish marvels, perform miracles, heal bodies and save souls.

If it is possible for you, never neglect to say your beads every day, and if you find time, even the whole fifteen decades.

Be not afraid of distractions, provided you are willing to struggle against them.

Our heavenly Mother understands so well our weakness, our tired feelings, our weariness at times.

Hail Mary's multiplied never displease her.
She appreciates your murmurings of faith, hope and love.
Do your best. But, never give up your beads.
To carry them on your person . . . is that not as if your were saying them all day, all night secretly?
Keep them, at times, especially in time of trial, in the hollow of your hand. That is to clasp Mary's hand.

To conclude, keep this in mind, at least:
do not neglect to say three Hail Mary's morning and night to Mary, Mother of God and your Mother, to thank the Most Blessed Trinity for having given us her . . .
we can report marvelous results from faithfulness to that practice, among those who suffer, who labor, who undergo pain of any kind, in body, in soul, in the midst of cares, to safeguard their interest, for time and eternity.
When we love someone, we cease not to remind him of our love, and always we love him more.
In saying Hail Mary, you will never deceive your heart, and above all the Immaculate Heart of Mary.
She is your Mother . . . Does not that say all?
Amen! So be it! Yes, altogether right, sweet and good that it be so.

-from the book Hail Mary by Dom Eugene Vandeur, translated by John H. Collins, S.J., 1954, Newman Press, Westminster, Maryland. pages 132-135.

On the Immaculate Conception

1.  For she is a vapor of the power of God, and a certain pure emanation of the glory of the Almighty God: and therefore no defiled thing cometh into her. For she is the brightness of Eternal Light, and the unspotted mirror of God's Majesty, and the image of His Goodness.
                                          -Wisdom VIII, 25, 26.

2.  We deem indeed only fitting that all the faithful in Christ should give thanks and praise to Almighty God for the marvelous Conception of the Immaculate Virgin, should celebrate and take part in the Masses and other Offices appointed for that purpose, and also strive to gain indulgences and the remission of their sins . . .
-Pope Sixtus IV (O.M.C.) (+1484): Constitution Cum prae excelsa, 28 February 1476.

3.  This devotion and homage toward the Mother of God was again increased and propagated . . . so that the universities having adopted this pious belief that she was conceived without sin, already nearly all Catholics have embraced it.
-Pope Alexander VII (1655-1667): Constitution Solicitude omnium ecclesiarum, published 1661.

4.  In honor of the Holy and Undivided Trinity, to give glory and due honor to the Virgin Mother of God, for the exaltation of the Catholic faith and the increase of Christian religion, by the authority of Our Lord Jesus Christ, of the blessed Apostles Peter and Paul, and by Our own, We pronounce and define that the doctrine which states that the Most Blessed Virgin Mary was, in the first instant of her conception, by the singular grace and privilege of God, in view of the merits of Jesus Christ the Savior of the human race, preserved immune from all stain of original sin, has revealed by God and is therefore to be firmly and unswervingly believed by all the faithful. Wherefore if any should presume - which God avert - to think otherwise in their hearts than We have defined, let them know and understand that they stand condemned by their own judgment, that they have made shipwreck of the faith, have fallen away from the unity of the Church, and that in consequence they automatically fall under the canonical penalties if they venture to make known by word or writing or in any other outward way what they think in their hears.
-Pope Pius IX (1846-1878): Constitution Ineffabilis Deus, 8 December, 1854 (Acta Pii IX, i , 616).

5.  If anyone says that man once justified can during his whole life avoid all sins, even venial ones, as the Church holds that the Blessed Virgin did by special privilege of God, let him be anathema.
-Council of Trent, Session VI, can. xx ii.

6.  The Immaculate Conception of the glorious ever-Virgin Mary, Mother of God, whom on this day Pope Pius IX solemnly defined to have been by a singular privilege of God preserved free from all stain of original sin.
                                           -Roman Martyrology, 8 December.

7.  God, by a singular Providence, caused the Most Holy Virgin to be as perfectly pure from the very first moment of her existence, as it was fitting that she should be, who was to be the worthy Mother of God.
                                           -Greek Menology, 25 March.

8.  Our most holy, immaculate, and most glorious Lady, Mother of God and ever-Virgin Mary.
                                           -Protoevangelium of Saint James (c. A.D. 170).

9.  All blameless, more to be honored than the Cherubim, incomparably more glorious than the Seraphim.
-Liturgy of Saint James the Apostle.

10.  Mary was altogether sinless.
                                           -Liturgy of Saint John Chrysostom.

11.  It was meet that the God of all purity should spring from the greatest purity, from the most pure bosom.
-Saint Irenaeus (+ c. 202), cited by Fr. Kane in School of Mary, ch. ii, p. 14.

12.  She was not contaminated by the venomous breath of the serpent.
                                           -Origen (+ c. 253): In Div., hom. i.

13.  The only daughter of life, the tabernacle most holy, not made by hands of man, preserved incorrupt, and blessed from the head to the feet.
-Saint Dionysius of Alexandria (+ 265), quoted by Chandlery.

14.  The new Eve, and the Mother of Life.
-Saint Athanasius, Doctor of the Church (+ 373): In Annunt.

15.  Of a truth O Lord, Thou and Thy Mother are they alone who are in every way wholly fair; for in Thee, O Lord, there is no spot, in Thy Mother no stain.
-Saint Ephraem of Edessa, Deacon, Doctor of the Church (+ c. 373): Carmina Nisibena, XXVII, 8 (ed. Brickell, pp. 122-3).

16.  She was as innocent as Eve before her fall, a Virgin most estranged from every stain of sin, more holy than the Seraphim, the sealed fountain of the Holy Ghost, the pure seed of God, ever in body and in mind intact and immaculate.
-Saint Ephraem of Edessa supra: Carmina Nisibena.

17.  Most holy Lady, Mother of God, alone most pure in soul and body, alone exceeding all perfection of purity . . . alone made in thy entirety the home of all the graces of the Most Holy Spirit, and hence exceeding beyond all compare even the angelic virtues in purity and sanctity of soul and body . . . my Lady most holy, all pure, all immaculate, all stainless, all undefiled, all incorrupt, all inviolate . . . spotless robe of Him Who clothes Himself with light as with a garment . . . flower unfading, purple woven by God, alone most immaculate.
                                            - Saint Ephraem of Edessa supra: Precationes ad Deiparam, in Opp. Graec. Lat., III, 524-537.

18.  She was immaculate, and remote from all stain of sin.
                                            - Saint Ephraem of Edessa supra: Orat. ad Deiparam.

19.  Hers was a purity without shadow.
                                            -Saint Gregory of Nyssa (+ c. 395).

20.  Receive me not from Sarah, but from Mary; that it may be an uncorrupted Virgin, a Virgin free by grace from every stain of sin.
-Saint Ambrose, Doctor of the Church (+ 397): in Ps. CXVIII, s. 22.

21.  She was a Virgin not in body only, but in mind also; the purity of her thoughts had been deflowered by no evil suggestion . . . So pure was Blessed Mary that she was chosen to be the Mother of the Lord; God made her whom He had chosen, and chose of her of whom He would be made.
-Saint Ambrose, Bp. of Milan, supra.

22.  He Who formed the first virgin (Eve) without deformity, also made the second Virgin (Mary) without spot or stain.
-Saint Amphilochius of Iconic (+ c. 400): In S. Deip. et Sim.

After Christ, the best defense against the Devil

The chief remedy against the Devil is to have recourse to the Virgin Mary.
                                                 - St. John of Avila (+ 1569)

O my sovereign Lady, delight of my soul, heavenly dew quenching my burning thirst, liquid flowing from God into my parched heart, bright light in the midst of my soul's darkness, guide of my poor judgment, strength of my weakness, covering of my nudity, treasure of my poverty, remedy for incurable wounds, wiper away of tears, end of sighs, reverser of misfortunes, lightener of grief, loosener of my bonds, my hope of salvation, listen to my prayers, have mercy on my sighs, and reject not my lamentations; have mercy on me, and may my tears move thee; be moved by thine own feeling of compassion towards me, who art the Mother of God, the lover of men, hear and grant my prayers, fulfill my petition.
                                                 -St. Germanus

Praise of the Mother of God from Maximus the Confessor, 7th century

Behold, what mind will fathom, or what tongue will express, or what master scribe's hand will write the innumerable multitude of the graces and benevolences of the holy and ever-virgin Theotokos, which she manifested and manifests from day to day among the human race?

She is the ardent intercessor with her son, Christ God, for all those who entreat her.
She is the calm harbor of all those buffeted by waves, who rescues them from spiritual and fleshy waves.
She is the guide on the way of life for all who have gone astray.
She is the one who seeks and converts those who are lost.
She is the help and support of those who are afflicted.
She is the intercessor and mediator of those who are penitent.
And I will say even more than the above:
She is the resurrection of the fallen Adam.
She is the destruction of Eve's tears.
She is the comforter of those who mourn.
She is the throne of the king, who bears the one who bears all.
She is the one who renews the old world.
She is the ladder that reaches to heaven, by which God descended to the earth.
She is the bridge that leads from earth to Paradise.
She is the wonder of angels, and she is the wound of demons and their destruction.
She is the root of the incorruptible shoot.
She is the tree of immortal fruit.
She worked on the worker, the lover of humanity.
She sprouted forth the planter of life.
She is the furrow sprouting forth the wheat that strengthens hearts.
She is the table bearing eternal delight.
She is the incense offered to God for intercession on our behalf.
She is the ransom of the world.
She is the cause of boldness before God for mortal humans.
She is the mother of the good shepherd.
She is the dwelling place of the rational sheep.
She is the chasing away of the invisible enemies.
She is the opening of the gates of Paradise.
She is the unsilenced mouth of the apostles.
She is the invincible courage of the martyrs.
She is the power and strength of Christians.
She is the dawn of the undarkening day.
She is the bearer of the sun of truth.
Through her the raging tyrant was banished from his dominion.
Through her the Lord Christ, the lover of humanity, has appeared to us as savior.
Through her we have been saved from the mire of many sins, and we have been freed from the rule of various passions.
She is the raising of human beings and the downfall of demons.
She is the rock of life from which the thirsty drink the water of immortality.
She is the pillar of light leading and illuminating those in darkness.
She is the urn receiving the manna coming from heaven.
She is the land of promise producing sweetness.
She is the flower of incorruptibility, the crown of virtue, the model of the life of angels.
She is the thickly leaved tree in whose shade the weary rest, the bearer of the redeemer of captives, the guide of those who have gone astray.
She is our intercessor before the just judge.
She is the destroyer of the record of our sins.
She is the garment of those who are bare of any good.
She is the door of great mystery.
She is the unquestioned pride of the faithful.
She is the one who received the uncontainable God.
She is the holy throne of the one seated on the cherubim.
She is the virtuous inheritance of the one glorified by the seraphim.
She leads forth the angels and humans together.
She united virginity and childbearing, for she was both the Immaculate Virgin and the mother of Emmanuel.
Through her was the curse removed.
On her account was Paradise opened.
She is the key of the kingdom of heaven.
She is the cause of eternal good things.
She is the one receiving the Wisdom of God.
She is the treasure house of his Providence.
She is the pillar of virginity.
She is the gate of salvation.
She is the beginning of our renewal.
She is the cause of divine mercy toward humanity.
She is the crown of the invisible sun.
She is the brilliance of the undarkening light.
She is the lightning that illuminates souls.
She is the thunder that shatters the enemies and the deceptive demons.
She is the one who engendered the source of life.
She is the font that purifies thoughts.
She is the cup brimming with joy.
She is the tent of the Word of God.
She is the saint of saints, the height of all sanctity.
She is the ark covered by the Holy Spirit.
She is the precious crown of faithful kings.
She is the pride and ornament of worthy and holy bishops.
She is the unshakable tower of the Catholic Church.
She is the impregnable wall of the city of the faithful, about which David said, "Who will lead me to the fortified city?" (Ps 59.11), which is the assembly of the faithful, gathered from the nations.
She is the healer of our infirmities.
She is the hope and helper of our souls.

Image of Our Lady of Guadalupe

Ave Maria!

Our Lady of Guadalupe

Today, December 12th, is the feast day of Our Lady of Guadalupe! Quite possibly the most important historical event to occur in the New World began 483 years ago, and Our Lady of Guadalupe spoke these magnificent words:
"Listen, put it into your heart, my youngest and dearest son, that the thing that disturbs you, the thing that afflicts you, is nothing. Do not let your countenance, your heart be disturbed. Do not fear this sickness of your uncle or any other sickness, nor anything that is sharp or hurtful. Am I not here, I, who am your Mother? Are you not under my shadow and protection? Am I not the source of your joy? Are you not in the hollow of my mantle, in the crossing of my arms? Do you need anything more? Let nothing else worry you, disturb you. Do not let your uncle's illness worry you, because he will not die now. You may be certain that he is already well."

The Immaculate, Blessed, Ever-Virgin Mary is our Mother and the powerful mediatrix with Christ. Truly, no cause is hopeless or beyond repair. Please pray to Our Lady of Guadalupe!
